2017 Scholarship Testimonials

If I were to describe SGC in one word I would say, perseverance. Many riders spoke of their past injuries or their tires going flat and yet most worked through their struggles and completed the ride. Their love for cycling outweighed the bumps in the road along the way. The restrictions they overcame were inspiring.

Volunteering at the Sea Gull Century has benefited me as well as taught me important lessons that will help me later in life, such as giving back to the community, taking on new challenges, supporting others, and having fun in a group endeavor.

It was an incredibly gratifying experience for me to participate as part of a medical team that ensured the safety and well-being of the riders. It has become an event that I whole-heartedly believe in and appreciate, both as a rider and as a volunteer.

It is interesting that participants come from all over Maryland and the surrounding areas near and far as well as riders of all ages and backgrounds to ride in the SGC. This showed me how important of an event it is for Salisbury and the university, it brings business to the area and gets the students involved in the community.
